Jack Kauffman, Certified Sommelier and Sherry Specialist
Jack is a New England native who moved to Charleston in 2017 to assist with the launch of a new downtown wine bar. He has since successfully run the wine program and led the education series at a budding wine bar and retail shop on Daniel Island. Prior to his move to Charleston he studied film and studio art at Hobart College in upstate New York and wine at IAU College in Aix-en-Provence, France. Upon completing his degrees he produced, directed, and edited the award-winning documentary on the Finger Lakes wine region, Uncorked Potential. After touring with the film on the film festival circuit, Jack achieved Level 2 Certified Sommelier status with the Court of Master Sommeliers and Certified Sherry Wine Specialist status via the House of Lustau and the Jerez-de-la-Frontera governing body. He has since worked the grape harvest with Samsara Wines in Ronda, Andalucia, Spain and visited numerous wine regions across the United States and Europe.
Andrew Thomas, Intro Sommelier and WSET Level 2
Andrew is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. After studying History at the University of South Carolina, he returned to Charleston to help start and run a few luxury magazines for affluent communities around the area. After working in Publishing, Public Relations, and Real Estate, he felt compelled to return to his first loves of food and drink. In the spring of 2018, he signed up for the Introductory Course with the Court of Master Sommeliers and earned certification later that summer. He then gained employment as a Server and Sommelier at an upscale wine bar and retail shop. In 2019 he achieved Level 2 Certification with the Wine and Spirits Education Trust and is building an online wine and food education resource in conjunction with In Vino Inventa.
